Return to Player (RTP)
The theoretical percentage of total wagered money that a slot machine is programmed to pay back to players over an infinite number of spins.
Return to Player (RTP) represents the long-term mathematical expectation of a game. For example, a slot with a certified 96.0% RTP is mathematically engineered so that across billions of simulated spins, 96% of all coin-in is returned in payouts, while the remaining 4.0% forms the casino's theoretical house advantage (hold). In the short term, actual returns fluctuate wildly around this mean due to statistical variance.
RTP = \frac{\sum (\text{Payout}_i \times P_i)}{\text{Total Bet}} = \sum_{i=1}^{N} w_i \cdot p_iRTP is the sum of every possible payout multiplied by its exact statistical probability, divided by the base wager.
On a game with 96.50% RTP, a player wagering $100 over a statistically infinite sample will mathematically experience an expected return of $96.50 (an expected loss of $3.50).
